Most store mayonnaise is made with soybean or canola oil. A handful of brands use avocado oil instead, and some “avocado oil” mayos still blend in seed oils. We read the current ingredient lists on each brand’s own page so you can tell which jars actually pass.

**Quick answer:** [Primal Kitchen Mayo with Avocado Oil](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZAD36ZS?tag=thefoodieki0f-20), [Chosen Foods Classic Mayo](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K85WWPM?tag=thefoodieki0f-20) and [Sir Kensington’s Avocado Oil Mayonnaise](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079X96WW7?tag=thefoodieki0f-20) list avocado oil as their only oil. Kraft’s “with avocado oil” mayo does not.

## How we chose

This is a desk-researched comparison, not a lab test. We shortlisted products with a current, verified Amazon listing and compared what can be checked: the ingredient list, what the maker states about sourcing and processing, the package, and how each fat fits the cooking jobs on this site. Sourcing and quality claims below are the manufacturers’ own unless a study is cited. We list no prices because they change daily. For mayo, the deciding test was simple: is avocado (or olive) oil the only oil in the ingredient list on the brand’s own page?

## Labels that fool people

- **“Made with avocado oil” or “with olive oil.”** These often mean a blend. Kraft’s reduced-fat avocado oil mayo lists avocado oil, then canola and soybean oil \[4\].
- **Sunflower or safflower oil.** Both are seed oils, even in premium brands.
- **Avocado oil quality.** In 2020 UC Davis testing, 15 of 22 avocado oils were oxidized before their expiry date and 6 were mixed with other oils \[5\]. Chosen Foods’ refined oil was one of two that tested pure and fresh.

## Why mayo matters

Mayonnaise is mostly oil, so the oil choice decides the fat profile. Soybean oil is about 51% linoleic acid; avocado oil is about 68% oleic acid and 13% linoleic acid (USDA FoodData Central) \[6\]\[7\]. ## Frequently asked questions

### Which mayo brands are seed oil free?

Of the jars we checked, Primal Kitchen Mayo with Avocado Oil, Chosen Foods Classic Mayo and Sir Kensington’s Avocado Oil Mayonnaise list avocado oil as their only oil. Always re-read the label, because recipes change.

### Is every “avocado oil” mayo seed oil free?

No. Kraft Mayo with Avocado Oil (Reduced Fat) also lists canola oil and soybean oil. “Made with avocado oil” does not mean “only avocado oil”.

### Why avoid soybean oil mayo?

Conventional mayonnaise is mostly oil, usually soybean or canola. Soybean oil is about 51% linoleic acid, an omega-6 fat (USDA), which is why seed-oil-free eaters swap it out.

### Is homemade mayo better?

It lets you choose the oil, for example light olive oil or avocado oil. Our recipe: [Seed Oil Free Mayo](https://thefoodiekitchen.net/seed-oil-free-mayo/).
