The best seed oil free salad dressings are Primal Kitchen Ranch, Caesar, and Balsamic Vinaigrette — all made with avocado oil and available at Target, Whole Foods, and Amazon. If you cannot find Primal Kitchen locally, the easiest seed oil free dressing is olive oil and red wine vinegar mixed at the table — it takes 10 seconds and beats every bottled option. Standard bottled dressings including Newman's Own, Ken's, and Kraft all use soybean or canola oil.

## 5-Minute Homemade Seed Oil Free Dressings

Making your own dressing is faster than driving to the store and produces a better result. These five cover every salad situation.

Serves

Makes 120ml

Prep

5 min

Cook

### Ingredients

- Classic Vinaigrette: 80ml extra virgin olive oil, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 tsp honey, salt and pepper
- Caesar: 80ml olive oil, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1 anchovy fillet, 1 clove garlic, 1 tsp Dijon, 1 tbsp grated parmesan, salt
- Ranch: 120ml full-fat Greek yoghurt, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt
- Balsamic: 80ml olive oil, 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp Dijon, salt
- Tahini: 4 tbsp tahini, 3 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 garlic clove, water to thin, salt

### Method

1. Combine all ingredients for chosen dressing in a jar.
2. Seal and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
3. Taste and adjust seasoning.
4. Refrigerate — most keep 1 week. Ranch and tahini keep 5 days.
5. Shake before each use as separation is normal with olive oil dressings.

## Why Most Bottled Dressings Use Seed Oils

Bottled salad dressings use soybean or canola oil for three reasons: cost, stability, and pour viscosity. Soybean oil is substantially cheaper than olive or avocado oil, stays liquid at refrigerator temperatures (olive oil solidifies), and gives the pourable consistency consumers expect. The seed oil content of a standard Ranch dressing bottle is typically 70-80% of the product by volume. Switching to a homemade olive oil dressing eliminates all of this in 5 minutes.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is there a seed oil free Caesar dressing?

Yes — Primal Kitchen Caesar dressing uses avocado oil and is available at most major US grocery chains. Homemade Caesar with olive oil is even better and takes 5 minutes.

### Is balsamic vinegar seed oil free?

Yes. Pure balsamic vinegar contains no oil at all — it is made from grape must. Balsamic dressing (vinegar mixed with oil) is only seed oil free if the oil used is olive or avocado oil.

### Is olive oil and vinegar a seed oil free dressing?

Yes. Olive oil is a fruit oil, not a seed oil. Vinegar contains no oil. Olive oil and vinegar is the simplest and most reliable seed oil free dressing available.

### Where can I find Primal Kitchen dressing?

Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Costco (some locations), and Amazon. It is the most widely distributed seed oil free dressing brand in the US.

### Is tahini seed oil free?

Yes. Tahini is ground sesame paste — no added oils. Use it as a base for dressings with olive oil and lemon juice. Sesame seeds are technically seeds but tahini used as a condiment in traditional Middle Eastern and African cuisines is generally accepted in the MAHA community.
